It sounds like you may not have enough power supplying the machine. If you're on the same circuit (not just the same outlet) as something else that requires a fair amount of amperage to run this could be the preventing your machine from getting enough power. This can cause what you've described and also cause damage to the motor.
If you have a dedicated outlet, that is the best way to run these machines. At the very least, try setting it up on a dedicated outlet with at least the recommended amperage for your machine. To find that number, check out the manual or the machine's information sticker - the same one that has your serial and model numbers!
