Hi You may have had this gun for some time. Often dried setament, or some mineral corroson can cause the spring and ball valve in the gun to stick, making it so you can insert your hose.
Solution:
Spray some lubricant in the orifice. Let it sit a bit.
Use a non petroleum based lubricant paste on the o-ring of your hose male end.
Work the two units together.
Careful not to damage your o-ring.
