The raised ring on the dipstick is the full mark for the oil level. The sight glass on the side of the crankcase is a visual indicator only.
The oil level in these machines is very forgiving. Being slightly above the full mark will not cause damage but may result in a little bit of oil being expelled through the dipstick vent during operation.
The factory oil that comes with the unit is a special blend 30 Wt non-detergent oil that contains break-in additives. The oil color will change after the first few minutes of operation. This is perfectly normal and is an indication that the additives are doing their job.
We recommend changing the original oil after the first 50 hours of use. AR64516 oil is what we use but any 30 Wt non-detergent oil will work (just stay away from automotive oils that contain detergents as those will foam up in the crankcase).
