Occasional Chirping or Squealing Noise from the Unloader Valve
A brief chirping or squealing sound may occur when water bypasses through the regulating valve inside the unloader.
This typically happens when the pressure regulator is adjusted too low ( too loose), resulting in minimal compression on the regulator spring.
In this condition, the regulator spring and piston can oscillate rapidly as the system struggles to stabilize water flow, creating the audible noise.
Important Note:
The unloader valves on Blue Clean units are factory-set for optimal pressure and flow. Adjustments should be made through nozzle sizing.
How to Prevent the Noise:
- Maintain a reasonable amount of compression on the regulator spring. Minimal if any adjustment will ever be needed. The regulator is not designed to be adjusted all the way down to zero pressure.
- If lower pressure is needed, use a larger spray nozzle size rather than over-adjusting the regulator.
